Kisses to Heaven

Sometimes it is hard being eight and having your daddy live in the spirit world. While we miss him all the times, sometimes are tougher than others. In order to give this tough time something we could do, I suggested getting a balloon, writing messages on it, and letting it go. She looked forward to it all week. She was excited to pick out her favorite color and held tight to the string all the way home from the store. She thought all day about what she wanted to say. It was simple: I love you, Daddy. I miss you. She drew a heart. The wind was stiff so when she finally got up the courage to let go, the balloon was whisked away up, up into the sky. It traveled far above our house, flew over the neighbor’s roof, and farther up still, up into the sky as blue as the balloon itself. We watched until the balloon disappeared from sight. She burst into tears. She misses her Daddy, of course she does. It’s hard enough being eight. It’s harder when you miss your Dad. In the meantime, we who love her hold her close and surround her with love, we who are mediums bring messages from her father in the spirit world. We’re all in it together. Together we’ll make our way through.

*sniffle* What a wonderful idea to help her through those difficult times. I am sending a purple balloon of love to her mommy right now. When it finds her, it will open up and hold her tight, like I would if I could be there.

Love to you both (and to A. too), Siobhan!
